During a meeting on Wednesday, the DC directed civic officials to review amenities in Jamshedpur, Mango, Jugsalai and Chakulia municipalities to keep people on the streets hydrated during summer.The DC directed officials to identify dry zones, defined as residential areas confronting water supply issues, and to implement alternative measures for water distribution. \u201cSupply water via tankers in the dry zone areas,\u201d the DC directed.Further, the DC asked municipal officials to conduct street cleaning during night hours to minimise traffic on busy arterials and protect workers from the blazing sun and heatwave.As a pilot project, the DC stated that markets and crowded streets in the urban circle will be cleaned before 5 am. Noting that special initiatives have to be taken for an effective cleanliness drive, the DC asked the municipal officials to involve local residents in conducting the cleaning drive successfully.The DC instructed officials to be strict with people dirtying the area and to penalise anyone discarding waste in public places. He asked officials to carry out a drive to clean clogged drains and repair dilapidated ones ahead of the monsoon.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
