New Delhi:<\/span> Delhi University<\/a> has formed a committee to examine alleged violations by St Stephen\u2019s College in the shortlisting of candidates for assistant professor posts.The decision was taken by the university\u2019s executive council (EC) in its meeting on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by vice chancellor Yogesh Singh.\u201cTaking serious note of the violation of shortlisting criteria adopted by St Stephen\u2019s College in the direct recruitment process for assistant professors, the executive council has decided to constitute a committee to examine the matter,\u201d an official statement said.According to the statement, the college allegedly shortlisted 70 candidates for each unreserved vacancy, instead of following the criteria approved by DU\u2019s academic council and executive council, which prescribe shortlisting 40 candidates for the first vacancy and 20 for each subsequent vacancy.The EC also decided that the college be advised not to issue appointment letters to the recommended candidates until the matter is examined.The committee will be chaired by Prof Inder Mohan Kapahi, chancellor\u2019s nominee in the EC, and include EC members Aman Kumar, Monica Arora and LS Chaudhary. The joint registrar (colleges) will serve as secretary to the panel.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
