<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi: <\/span>Lieutenant governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Tuesday visited the New Delhi Municipal Council\u2019s (NDMC) Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) at Palika Kendra to review its functioning and assess the civic body\u2019s preparedness to deal with the ongoing heatwave in the capital.During the visit, LG said the prevailing extreme weather conditions posed both a challenge and a test of preparedness for civic agencies. He stressed that departments should adopt best practices that could serve as a model for other cities.An NDMC official said the ICCC is monitoring water availability in schools, service centres, hospitals, dispensaries, cr\u00e8ches and parks across the NDMC area. \u201cA dedicated doctor will be stationed at the ICCC to respond promptly to heat-related emergency calls,\u201d the official said. NDMC has also issued a special circular directing departments such as horticulture, civil engineering, sanitation and health to ensure the availability of ORS packets, safe drinking water and protective gear, besides revising working hours for field staff to minimise exposure during peak heat.NDMC chairperson Keshav Chandra said the ICCC, inaugurated in Sept 2020 under the Smart City Mission, has evolved into a key governance platform integrating more than 49 civic services. These include solid waste management, street lighting, parking systems, sewage treatment plants, sanitation operations and emergency response.Technologies such as GIS mapping, SCADA integration and GPS-enabled waste management systems have enhanced precision and efficiency in urban governance, said NDMC vice-chairperson Kuljeet Chahal.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
