NEW DELHI: Four days after a 38-year-old woman was critically injured in an alleged stabbing by her husband in northeast Delhi’s Sonia Vihar, police on Sunday have arrested the accused.The accused, identified as 35-year-old Manoj Kumar, a resident of 1st Pushta in Sonia Vihar, was traced and arrested after a brief manhunt, police said on Sunday. During verification, police also found that Kumar had previously been involved in a case related to abduction and murder. The incident came to light after a PCR call was received from A Block in Sonia Vihar at the Khajuri Khas police station on the evening of April 22. Responding officers found the woman with serious injuries. She was initially taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital and later referred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital due to the severity of her condition. She is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS, police said. A case has been registered under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Khajuri Khas police station. According to a senior police officer, the attack followed a sudden and heated argument between the couple, reportedly linked to an ongoing marital dispute. The situation escalated, leading to the alleged stabbing. The incident adds to a growing number of cases of spousal violence reported in the city in recent months. In December 2025, a 44-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death before dying by suicide at their home in central Delhi’s Anand Parbat. In another case the same month, a 48-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife during a quarrel over Rs 20 at their residence in east Delhi’s Kasturba Nagar, and later died by suicide after jumping in front of a train.
