NEW DELHI: More than two weeks after a taxi driver was robbed of his Maruti Ertiga and mobile phone near the Bhopura Border in northeast Delhi, police have arrested three men in connection with the case.According to police, the complainant, Parvez, a taxi driver from Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district, was waiting for passengers near Lakdi Market Puliya in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi around 7.30 pm on June 22 when three allegedly intoxicated men hired his cab for a ride to Loni Gol Chakkar.During the journey, the accused allegedly intimidated him by invoking the name of a known criminal. One of them then forcibly pushed him from the driver’s seat, took control of the vehicle and, on reaching the Bhopura Border, threw him out before fleeing with the Maruti Ertiga, police said, adding that his mobile phone, which was inside the vehicle, was also stolen.A case was registered at Welcome police station, following which investigators analysed CCTV footage from the crime scene and along the suspected escape route, besides relying on technical surveillance and local intelligence.
