New Delhi: Two operatives of a foreign-based gangster, Goldy Dhillon, were arrested by police. Investigators said the duo was part of Dhillon’s network and played a key role in illegal arms and narcotics supply chains. One of the accused was allegedly on his way to commit a crime when he was nabbed.The accused were identified as Jatin Bhardwaj (28) and Sukhwinder Singh (28), both residents of Punjab. Investigators said they allegedly arranged hideouts and logistical support for shooters linked to Dhillon and helped maintain control over local drug distribution networks.Special CP (crime) HGS Dhaliwal said the crime branch had been working for a couple of months on cases involving extortion calls made to businessmen by gangsters operating from abroad. Following complaints of extortion and subsequent claims of responsibility on social media, teams carried out extensive technical surveillance and field verification.During the probe, police identified several suspects with multiple criminal records who were allegedly providing logistical support to foreign-based gangsters while also carrying out criminal activities on their instructions. Some of them were also found to be in contact with gangsters through sophisticated communication apps.DCP (crime) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said police received specific information that Jatin would be arriving in Rohini to execute a “heinous crime”. Acting on the tip-off, a team led by inspectors Man Singh and Sunder Gautam laid a trap at Bahadur Shah Marg and apprehended him. A semi-automatic pistol, along with four live cartridges, was recovered from his possession. Based on his interrogation, Sukhwinder, alleged to be the source of the firearm, was also arrested.Police said Jatin is involved in 14 criminal cases. Sukhwinder, described as a childhood friend of Dhillon, allegedly provided logistical support to gang members and arranged hideouts for shooters on Dhillon’s instructions. He is involved in seven criminal cases.Dhillon is considered one of the most influential and resourceful operatives linked to organised crime networks. His name has also surfaced during the investigation into the murder of a medical store manager in Chandigarh, indicating the alleged continued involvement of his network in serious offences.
