New Delhi, June 4 (IANS) In a bid to improve traffic flow, reduce roadside congestion, and encourage responsible parking habits, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), in coordination with the Delhi Police, on Thursday launched an intensive enforcement and awareness campaign around designated multi-level parking facilities across the national capital.

NEW DELHI: A speeding Endeavour broke down and rammed into another vehicle near Jharsa Chowk on Thursday, around 1. 30pm.The said incident triggered chaos and a nearly four-kilometre-long traffic jam on the Delhi–Gurgaon expressway, news agency PTI reported.According to eyewitnesses, the white Endeavour suffered a sudden breakdown, lost control, and collided with a Tata Magic moving ahead of it.The impact damaged the front portion of the Endeavour, which came to a halt in the middle of the road, disrupting traffic on the busy stretch, eyewitnesses said.Police said the airbags deployed in the vehicle prevented any major casualties.However, within minutes, hundreds of vehicles were stranded, with commuters stuck in congestion for nearly an hour until traffic personnel intervened, PTI reported.After about an hour, officials said a crane was deployed to remove the damaged vehicle from the expressway to restore smooth traffic movement.Inspector Manoj Kumar, SHO Traffic-II said, “The accident occurred because the SUV suddenly broke down. Our traffic police team reached the spot immediately, but removing the damaged vehicle from the road took some time, which caused traffic congestion.”(With agency inputs)
